NEC N600i is a rather chunky and bland-looking flip phone at 45mm wide and 24mm thick, with the external aerial making it 110mm long when closed. At 115gm it's still lighter than the first NEC phones. The N600i's most impressive feature is the beautiful 2-inch, 240x320 pixel screen, which handles an impressive 65,000 colour shades. Built-in video cameras in the front and back of the flip allow the other party to either see your face or the scene in front of you during a video call. A compact (94.447.524.5mm, 115g) and striking clamshell 3G video-phone, the N600i is equipped with a full-scale 1.3 mega-pixel integrated auto-focus camera so you can shoot photos and video and share them immediately with friends and family.

The N600i has just about everything you could want from a modern phone -- a 1.3-megapixel camera that can also record video, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, 20MB of internal memory (and the ability to expand with a TransFlash memory card), and a speakerphone.
The N600i not only capable of displaying high-resolution pictures, the N600i's two inch 65K QVGA main LCD display is also able to show MPEG4 movies. The N600i's in-built Bluetooth technology allows effortless interaction with other devices, including laptops, mobiles and compatible headsets, as well as synchronization with PC contacts and appointments. Users can also maximize their down time by video calling business colleagues while waiting for flights in the departure lounge.
The ability to play polyphonic ring tones is fairly standard for new phones, but the N600i can also play media files encoded in MP3, AAC or MPEG4 formats. It goes beyond basic text message capability to add MMS (audio, image and video), and also offers e-mail.
The flagship feature of this phone is its ability to access the i-Mode service utilizing the higher speed of the 3G network connection. You can use i-Mode to quickly and easily access a range of textual and multimedia content such as news, weather, e-mail, shopping, classified advertisements and games. Few i-Mode channels offered video content, but a few delivered acceptable quality streams, such as the ABC News.

Conclusion
The NEC N600i is a reasonably durable phone. There is the slightest bit of creaking if you try to stress the phone, but the plastic is firm and the phone's flip barrel is fairly solid too. The flip itself is of the type that clicks into place, and will hold whatever angle you place it in. The back battery cover is locked firmly into the phone when closed and doesn't slide around. All in all the phone holds together and passes the build quality test.
Being a complete mobile office and entertainment package means N600i users can travel light and leave other accessories such as PDAs, MP3 players, laptops, games consoles and even roadmaps, behind. Make an account transfer in the back of a taxi using the N600i's i-mode menu for online banking and the N600i's 20MB embedded memory and expand the memory on the phone using a Trans-FlashTMmemory card to store large amounts of data music, photos and video.
